Nicaragua – Days 9 & 10: San Juan Del Sur

Day 9 of our trip to Nicaragua was Beach Day! We went to Playa Madera, a surfer’s paradise! The waves were huge, and extremely powerful.  It was also my first time in the pacific ocean, which was pretty cool. And of course the food and drinks were amazing! We left our camera’s behind this day, to  experience the day and just have fun, so unfortunately I have no photos to share.

 

On Day 10, our last day in San Juan Del Sur, we visited the San Juan Del Sur (SJDS) library.

Nicaragua – Day 1: Bougainvilleas, Fish Tacos and La Gigantona!

Our plane landed in Managua, Nicaragua on April 23rd, where we were picked up by a taxi arranged by G Adventures and taken to our first stop of the trip – Granada. Our drive to Granada was beautiful – reminded me of Sri Lanka, with its colourful houses and palm trees and flowers. Bougainvilleas were everywhere! Parrots and other beautiful birds were flying over us from tree to tree, and the sky was filled with the sounds of different birds.

12 Days of Nicaragua with Photographers Without Borders

As I mentioned in a previous post, I was given the amazing opportunity to join Photographers Without Borders (PWB) last month on a photodocumentary workshop in Nicaragua, acting as both a customer service rep for the organization and an assistant to the workshop instructor. Before I was given this opportunity, I had honestly never even heard of Nicaragua and I had no idea as to what region of the world it was in.
