8/52: Hiking the Glen Rouge

Glen Rouge is the only campground within the city of Toronto. It’s also a part of Rouge National Urban Park and contains an entrance to the Mast trail. The Mast trail connects to the Orchard trail – our usual trail of choice when we visit Rouge park.

During our previous visits to the park, we explored half of the Mast trail from the northern trail head. Today, from the Glen Rouge campground, we decided to explore the southern half of the trail.

The highlight of our day was coming across a little girl in a bright red jacket! She was so excited to be allowed to go up the stairs and into the woods that she yelled, “It’s so much fun being out in nature!!”

I can’t wait to have kids of my own and take them out to our favourite hiking spots!
