“Life below water: for people and planet.”

Tagged: , , ,

For this year’s World Wildlife Day, the UN has chosen the theme of “Life below water: for people and planet.”

To me (and probably the majority of us), the world underwater is incomprehensible. The magnitude of it, the vastness… and the very likely possibility of undiscovered species hiding in the depths of the sea. It blows my mind when I think about how much there is in this world that we still don’t know about.

But this creates an issue of “out of sight, out of mind.” We forget how connected we are to the Earth and all of its beings – even the ones that live in the far depths of the oceans. And the impact that humans have, both negative and positive, reaches every corner of this Earth.

Today, I’m asking all of you to commit to doing one thing this year to help our oceans (and ultimately ourselves). Whether it’s cutting back on single-use plastic, or choosing sustainably sourced seafood, there are so many simple lifestyle changes we can make that are not only good for the Earth, but also our health and our wallets.

Each and every one of us is responsible for the state of our planet. And each and every one of us has the power to change things around.
